THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE COMESA COMPETITION COMMISSION ELECTS ITS CHAIRPERSON AND VICE-CHAIRPERSON

The COMESA Competition Commission (the “Commission”) wishes to inform the general public that the Board of Commissioners at its Twenty Third (23^rd) meeting held on 22^nd to 24^th September 2021 elected Commissioner Ellen Ruparanganda as its Chairperson and Commissioner Brian Lingela as its Vice Chairperson in line with Article 13 (2) of the COMESA Competition Regulations (the Regulations).

The newly appointed Chairperson, Commissioner Ellen Ruparanganda, and Vice Chairperson, Commissioner Brian Lingela, have been Commissioners of the Commission since July 2018. Commissioner Ruparanganda is currently the Director of Competition and Tariff Commission (CTC) of Zimbabwe. She has qualification in Economics and has several years’ of experience in competition and trade matters. Further, the Vice-Chairperson, Commissioner Brian Lingela, is currently the Director responsible for Restrictive Business Practices at the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) of Zambia and he formerly served in the position of Director Mergers and Monopolies and Director of Consumer Protection at the CCPC.
